Dr. Michael R. MacDonald
I started this newsletter and website with one purpose in mind. It was not to make any money, since everything is free and I have nothing to sell. (I like to joke that I do have some Hope and GSD for sale, but that is all free too).
The purpose was to raise awareness of a charity I love, Room to Read. This is still a main purpose.
To develop awareness of Room to Read, I wrote an eBook called, How to Feel Younger at Any Age and made it available to subscribers of a Warm Heart. Now, I would like to offer it to everyone.
Here is a link for a Free download. This link also includes a 2 minute video as a little inspiration.

Please share this link. I have put no restrictions on how my writing may be used. No permissions are needed from anyone. Just share the love.
More Goals and More GSD
Over the past year, I have expanded my goals. My website continues to have sections related to my original Why. This is still very important to me.
My newer eBook is called 101+ Pathways to Generosity, a Strong Mind and More Productivity. It focuses more on personal development, as the title suggests. It is also Free for Everyone and Free to share and use.
My updated website highlights this expanded focus. For those of you who have not visited the site for a while, here is a blurb from my landing page.

If this interests you in any way, please subscribe here.
The first eBook, How to Feel Younger . . included sections on the importance of action, engagement and purpose. These themes and GSD also run throughout much of my regular writings on A Warm Heart.
I hope this gets your fires burning. Even writing this gets mine ablaze.
My Original GSD Motivation
I tried to find out who first coined the term “getting shit done” (GSD).
I asked a friendly AI program Gemini and here is what I got.
While the phrase “getting shit done” is widely used and appears in many contexts (books, articles, programs), it’s difficult to pinpoint a single individual who first coined it. It’s more likely an informal, colloquialism that emerged organically over time.
You’ll find its use in a general sense of productivity and efficiency, often emphasizing a no-nonsense approach to tasks. Many authors and speakers have adopted it to describe their methods or philosophies, but none are credited with its original creation
OK this makes sense.
My first exposure to GSD was in reading about John Wood and his embrace of this term. There is a detailed page on my website called Yes You Can about John Wood’s journey from leaving Microsoft to starting an international charity for low-income children, Room to Read.
His TED Talk was entitled, What the World Needs Now . . . is GSD. This struck a chord with me and I have been using this idea to motivate me ever since.
To be honest, I have always been motivated (and sometimes too much), but his way of looking at the world added even more drive.
A Little Motivation Roundup
Here is a roundup of a few articles to help ramp up your motivation even more.
1 – Here is a post I wrote a while ago, In Praise of GSD.
2 – Here is a story about a guy we all know, Michael J. Fox, who uses his GSD powers to raise billions of dollars. Included are details about how he puts his superpowers to work for him.
3 – Here is a more detailed discussion about the nature of motivation and how we can get more of it.
OK, enough of this reading. It’s time to get some things done.
Until next time, let our warm hearts soar!
Michael
