DO YOU WANT SOME SHIVERS?

To feel young and alive, no matter what our age, we need some energy and passion. Sometimes we need some tears or experiences that make the hairs stand up on our skin. Shivers.

Good music can do this. I get a warm rush whenever I listen to Oscar Peterson, Chick Corea or the Led Zeppelin classics.

My daughter makes fun of me when I get tearful watching the incredible musical Les Miserables, even though I have seen it many times. And for even more excitement, I have tickets to see it again in a few months in Toronto. I’m sure there will be more tears then.

Les Miserables is such a powerful story of life, death, romance and redemption. The music and singing add extra emotion to drive the messages and story home.

Learning about the new projects at Room to Read also gets me excited. For example, Room to Read has published new books and videos to help inspire young girls. One is called She Creates Change: 12 Incredible Stories of Girls from Room to Read’s Girls’ Education Program.

Well sit back and be moved.

Here is a short video that will rev you up and make you want to be a part of this amazing organization.

From Room to Read, here is

WELCOME TO THE END OF IMPOSSIBLE

I am still shivering. And I have watched this several times already.

The worldwide pandemic has created impossible stresses for millions of people. Dr. Geetha Murali, Room to Read‘s CEO and fearless leader says,

“It would be a devastating blow if in some of the places hardest hit by the pandemic, we then saw a rise in youth illiteracy rates, which would cripple low-income communities for generations to come”.

To rise to this immense challenge, Room to Read has delivered physical literacy resources during school closures to over 500,000 children in Asia. These are physical learning materials adapted to teach young children emotional, health and wellbeing skills to help get them get through and continue learning throughout this pandemic.

Wow, more shivers.
