ACTION STEPS, OPTIMISM AND A STRONGER MIND (a Warm Heart SHORT)

Faithful readers will know that optimism is powerful force. It can lead to greater productivity, better health, stronger relationships and an improved quality of life.

But, sometimes it is hard to get to that place – a place where you feel optimistic toward life and your future. Sometimes a lack of optimism is related to fears, anxiety and feeling uncertain about how to move forward.

Sometimes, negativity and pessimism feel safer and more comforting. Especially when those around you have similar beliefs.

Yet, ruminating and spinning your wheels will keep you stuck in the same spot, with feelings of negativity and pessimism gaining all the more power over you. Some type of action, even just a little, can really help.

Taking action is a powerful way to cultivate optimism. It can empower you to shift your mindset from passive observation to active engagement. Here are some ideas for how taking action can help.

  1. Action, Optimism and Control
Taking action allows you to focus on what you can control and not dwell on what you cannot control. When faced with challenges, try to identify and follow up on even small actionable steps. This helps redirect your attention from feelings of helplessness and toward proactive measures to help you get unstuck.
  2. Building Momentum
Action creates a sense of progress. Each step taken, no matter how small, contributes to a feeling of accomplishment and reinforces the belief that positive change is possible. This momentum can enhance your motivation and overall outlook on life.
  3. Overcoming Fear and Doubt
Engaging in tasks can help mitigate the anxiety and fear associated with inaction. The anticipation of negative outcomes often outweighs the reality; once you start taking action, those fears tend to diminish. For instance, public speaking anxiety often dissipates once the speaker begins their presentation.

I will following up on this theme of optimism in my next article, with more science-based practical strategies.

You will not want to miss out. Nor will your friends and family, so please share.

And remember GSD, getting shit done. It is a simple mantra, but I have found it very motivating.

Until next time, let our warm hearts soar!
